Markstrom is the best goalie on that list, and the youngest, and seems willing to come to Calgary without us having to overpay to make it happen (i.e. we can get him for market, instead of over market, like most UFAs)

Plus you don't have to give up an asset like a draft pick or prospect to get him.
The Flames also have no one in the pipeline looking like they're ready to take over as an NHL starter any time soon, so a multi year deal for the top UFA goalie makes a boat load of sense.
