My view, that I can't prove is that leaks primarily come from
1. Agents to media
2. Players to media (e.g. I think Commodore has some legit sources within the Flames' player group)
3. Management to media
I think, for most teams, the first two are the drivers of leaks and rumors. And I would further speculate that within Calgary, there are a couple of specific relationships between agents/players and media that create the leaks. If you look at some of the patterns including who reports things, and who they seem to talk to on a regular basis - you can start to connect some of the dots.
