No smart GM commits to the point of being locked in no matter how high the price goes, and as we’ve seen, it’s not like Treliving has never overpaid in a trade to get the guy he wanted. How did that work out exactly?
This whole “wishy washy” approach (not over committing) is part of being a good GM and a smart person in general. If you think this team is middling now, just wait until you see what happens when we overpay to win every trade.

Once again, not saying he needs to win every single trade. Just saying he hasn't done anything for about 2 years now and it would be nice to see him actually do something instead of being close.
I would understand if he was doing that with a contending team. However, the Flames are far from that. Its a long off-season though, hopefully there are some changes and not a 3rd straight year with basically the same core group.
