It was WAY too long for them to do this. I do not accept “it’s a long process” as a valid excuse away from straight up incompetence at this point.

The jersey process is not 13 years. The last set was in for 14. Even if you say the process is 2 years which sure, maybe, you’re still 12 years too long. This is equivalent to having the Buffaslug jersey for 14 years. An organizational embarrassment. To have the audacity (I use this word precisely here) to keep the old home as a 3rd just pushes the envelope on how disconnected whoever is in charge of design and marketing is with the current market, latest trends and fan base. And I think we all know who this person is, and that is Murray Edwards. And Murray should know, hey, when you hear this from your marketing people who hopefully to god read this website- your jersey opinions are horrendous. Just let your people do their job, for the love of everything.

What annoys me the most is that these things actually matter. People say they don’t, but they definitely do. Multiple points here. To players, this matters. Only slightly, but absolutely it matters. To fans, it matters enormously. Huge revenue source, pride in team, and ability to generate new fans by getting them to wear your merchandise specifically children / kids. The Flames have always underestimated this. To creating a lasting classic legacy. The organizations at the top of the NHL have lasting brands, designs etc. Now luckily the Flames have this in logo, but unfortunately they have not only mailed it in on jersey, they appear to have actively worked against it for largely illogical reasons until now! Retros were 150% the right answer 10-14 years ago, and the Flames should be apologetic about not getting this right until now.

I get that Ken King liked flags. I get that he was a wonderful person. I don’t get the connection between those things and trading for the literal face of your franchise. Because in today’s NHL, it’s not about the players. It’s about the jersey and logo. That’s what fans cheer for. When Jarome Iginla went to Pittsburgh, this didn’t become Pittsburghpuck.com. So give us a jersey to be proud of.

Now that we have a jersey again to be proud of- never change it. Like the other guy said, only mess with the 3rds, and let time cement these as decades old design, the only design we won the Cup with and will win future Cups with, and leave it the #### alone.

This stuff matters, but this organization pretending it doesn’t for 30 years did not help.

Now I know “the process” doesn’t take a decade, so kill the current 3rds. Literally 95% of people hate them... so get over yourselves and kill them already.
