Why is Markstrom that much better a gamble? Holtby has six seasons that are better, and he’s less than half a year older. Plus a century’s worth off playoff starts.

Because Markstrom has actually been good recently and not on a powerhouse team. EVERY NHL GM would rather have Markstrom right now. What he did in the past is irrelevant. Do you want Patrick Roy too?
