Correct me if I am wrong here, but didn't Arizona pay out around a 4 million dollar cheque already to OEL? That leaves 4 million and change left for the season on an 8 million cap hit.
If the above is true, Arizona shouldn't be so desperate to trade him - his cap hit is double that of whatever he has owning to him now. Unless they get what they deem is fair in return, I would just sit on OEL until the next off-season - or at least the trade deadline. That's the exact contract that they are looking to keep, no?
Unless OEL has demanded a trade, I don't think at this point Arizona will be in a hurry to trade him any longer, and they can be patient and see what next season brings - though injury risk/further devaluation certainly is a risk that perhaps they aren't comfortable with.
