But it does speak to the current state of things that you pretty much cannot dismiss any possibility here. Actually has COVID? Of course, he's been basically asking to get it. Doesn't have it and this is his last desperate election ploy? Of course, he doesn't have any other high variance play to make and we know nothing is beneath him. My initial thought is I don't see how this changes much. It mostly reinforces how poorly he's handled this entire situation. I'm sure there will be sympathy towards him to get better, but his mismanagement of the pandemic is why he's so far behind in the polls to begin with, so an event like this that is about as clear an example of how un-seriously he's taken it. Not sure where it helps him. Now, as a precursor to suspending the election, maybe that could work. Or maybe it's his play to step down and avoid the humiliating loss.
