What if Ray had not gotten out of the 4th or the 5th. Montoyo is an absolute moron who only manages in best case scenarios. And that best case scenario is limited at best. What happens if it goes south. We end up with using 6 or 7 pitcher in the first game of three.

That is precisely the problem with pre-set plans... there is no upside (in this case, getting a 4th inning), only downside.
It's peewee-level management.
It's basically saying: we don't trust your ability to make an intelligent decision, so we are going to pre-determine it.
