I second the fires. The wife had a 7 for a long time then went up to an 8 and loves it. I am typing this on a fire 10 I had for over a year now. Works well for basic stuff and goes everywhere I travel. Load Playstore or just load the apk's directly on and away you go. Just remember if you get a fire you need to download some files if you want to use playstore and related apps. Out of the box Amazon and Google do not like to talk to each other.
