CBS has been sitting on this season for nearly 2 years, having been shot in November and December of 2018. It was originally supposed to start airing in the spring, but when it became clear that most original programming was not going to be ready to air this fall, they bumped it back until October.
After many recent seasons have featured a variety of casting gimmicks, including the last seasons "Reality All-Stars" theme, this race promises to be a return to the standard format of just 11 teams of regular people with a pre-existing relationship.
