Crazy huh! Still want to "buy a goalie"? I think we'd better keep working on Rittich, Wolf and that Russian kid Zagadulin.

It's the entire cap era...I like to use the word 'homegrown'. As you note, some mild exceptions, but it's never been a matter of acquiring the sexy established goalie du jour (at least since Hasek in '02, or Khabibulin - acquired by TBL at 2001 TDL while he had held out the entire season)/
Giguere - acquired at age 23 with 30 NHL gp over 3 seasons with CGY and HFD
Ward - always a Cane
Osgood got claimed off waivers and spent 3 seasons in NYI/STL when the Red Wings acquired Hasek, but re-signed with DET after the lockout.
Thomas - I think it's fair to call him 'homegrown' in the Bruins org.
It's probably bad reasoning, but this factoid made me favour Rittich for the last 2 playoff series. IMO Smith and Talbot demonstrated that goaltending is not the biggest issue with this group, but of course everyone dreams of finding a Kipper 2.0 to cover-up this team's real warts.
