This deal isn't out of line. It's a fair deal.
Hanifin to date hasn't shown the offensive ability to be in this ballpark, and I'm not sure Hanifin's age is any sort of guarantee he will begin producing/impacting games to this level. Hanifin's deal is not bad, but to say that this Petry contract makes the Hanifin deal look better is just misguided in my eyes.

Huh? His last three season point totals are
32, 33, and 17. He has definitely shown he has that sort of offensive ability, and at a much younger age than Petry ever showed it. Last season was not a good one for Hanifin.
And re: Gio, he was the team's captain, had just led us on a surprise playoff burst, and was coming off of two almost 50 point seasons (48, 47). He was pretty much the best player on our roster at the time. I don't really think he and Petry are comparable, when Petry benefits from Weber sheltering.
