When you put it that way, no thanks. Second pairing D for a more expensive second pairing D who is three years older just so you can swap a useful young roster player for two seconds? I think Mangiapane has proven what he is and will get a reasonable offer from Treliving.

Not you specifically, but some people on this thread seem to be proposing at best lateral trades just for the sake of doing something, along the lines of "we lost in the first round, there is something wrong with our core, so let's trade for similar players on a team that didn't make it into the first round". If we make a trade, it has to be with the purpose of actually improving the team, which requires upgrading players, and in particular, adding another top 6 player (needs to be a centre or RW), adding a top 4 RD, and adding a reliable goaltender. Any trade the Flames make should address at least one of these needs, or if that's not possible, then trade anyone 25 or older for picks and prospects and do a full rebuild.
