The idea makes sense i suppose for cap purposes, but i thought they explicitly changed the rules to prevent this.

The contract still has to work in the CBA but spreading it out over 8 years instead of 7 so I could see a scenario where Pietrangelo would want 63M over 7 years or 64M over 8 so it takes the cap hit down from 9 to 8 which could be huge for the team acquiring him.
