Lebrun on The Athletic regarding trading for Pietrangelo’s rights:
Quote:
The Calgary Flames have talked about the possibility internally. After all, two of their right-side blueliners T.J. Brodie and Travis Hamonic are pending UFAs. But the Flames are juggling a few things, including needing to figure out their goaltending and perhaps adding a winger up front. So, there’s lots going on there in Calgary, but at the very least I know Pietrangelo’s name has surfaced. Of course, there are other top-four, right-side options, including trading for Matt Dumba, among other things.

The entire article discusses teams acquiring his rights meaning they’re allowed to sign him to 8 years - has this changed? I thought you had to have his rights prior to the trade deadline to do that.
Andy Strickland on Twitter backs this up - but says Pietrangelo owns a full-NTC so would have to waive for his rights to move.
