Alex Pietrangelo. Not really what the Flames need right now, but at the same time when Giordano is gone (or declines eventually) he can be the defenseman Calgary can rely on for their window. If you can get him under the cap, do it.
Jacob Markstrom. I'm on the fence with him, but he carried a young Canucks team all season and further. I would consider him a slight upgrade on Rittich or Talbot (whoever they need to move out). Darcy Kuemper also wouldn't be bad, but all of this seems lateral as the real focus should be on building a coherent group in front of the goaltender first.

Y'all we only have one RHD signed next year, and while I love Ras he is probably best suited on a second pairing for another year. Also Gio has already declined from being a true #1 d man in the league as we saw frequent examples of last season and through the playoffs.
Pietro is unquestionably what the flames need most right now, and I can't take any other arguments seriously. We can't run with a top 4 of Gio-Andersson Hanifin-Valimaki next season unless we are rebuilding.
