Flames wouldn't buy him out, they'd just let him retire. It's MIN that needs the contract bought out.

Almost all of it, there's only about 500K next year left that would be recaptured and that would be spread over multiple years. If he gets traded to a cap floor team and they buy him out then there is no recapture and it's a regular buyout. I'm sure MIN could be convinced to sweeten the pot to make that happen.
