Bennett+ would appeal to MIN, but I think that would be moving the wrong direction for CGY.

Agreed to an extent. But, no matter how much GMs will try to convince us otherwise, they frequently get emotionally invested and run afoul of this philosophy.
My point is that my 'fair price' that I think MIN might actually agree to is lower knowing that they've painted themselves into a corner.
Since the Spurgeon deal, it always seemed obvious that Dumba would be the odd man out. But, until Brodin was inked, MIN could at least bluff that they had alternative options.
