I'd agree that if you're trading a first round pick, better off trading the one where you know it's value.
Of course the flipside is how your trading partner is valuing the two picks so it's difficult to make the decision in a vacuum. Not everyone can pull a Costner and get 6th overall for 3 2nd round picks.
