Brodin is 3 years younger and known around the league as one of the best defensive defenceman. Quality shots and chances against diminish when he is on the ice. Whether you think that has value or not is debatable, but it's clear lots of teams do.
What is Francis talking about Brodie's offensive number dwarfing Brodin's? Over their careers maybe, but Brodin outscored Brodie this past season while being better defensively.
Brodie is solid at both ends of the ice and has good underlying numbers, but you have to keep in mind he has played mostly with Giordano over the past few seasons. I can't see anybody giving Brodie a 7 year deal for 6 million per, especially during covid times.
