Picks that would help this core group win were made 3-12 years ago.
Andrew Mangiapane, rasmus Andersson and Oliver kylington were drafted FIVE YEARS AGO.
There's no immediate help coming in the form of drafted players.
If you're going to do something, do it 110%,
This team and their results were cast years ago man. It's the entire reason why theyve been trading picks in the first place, they have no talent.

Certainly an option, not the way I'd go though.
I think you need a balance to avoid the sahara desert after a 5 year window.
That and your view is a static one without the option to adjust the team's view about the future.
Thinking the Flames had a core to build around three years ago with Monahan and Gaudreau developing chemistry, Tkachuk drafted, Andersson and Valimaki coming on, and a solid trade with Carolina adding some depth was one thing.
Thinking that core is the one to add to now isn't the same case in my mind.
The core has shown they don't have the mental side of the game for the most part to compete in the big games and big series.
If they agree with that assessment you don't continue to go all in ... you alter the core and see what you have.
