This a a fun exercise so here are my thoughts on this potential wild off season.
1. I actually prefer Brodie to Barrie all things considered, but I would be happy with this deal if we could get him signed to that contract. Unfortunately, I think we will be closer to 7 than to 5 and his play is a luxury that can't be justified at that price. I think he would be better suited playing more sheltered minutes and taking the #1 spot on the PP so I doubt he would line up with Gio.
2. I think Kuemper is a perfect target for this team, but I don't see the Yotes taking on any significant salary in a deal like that. I think Backlund stays and we likely have to send picks/prospects.
3. I think Hall gets closer to 8, but I'm on board with this.
4. Not an awful Gaudreau proposal, but I don't think Hall signs here if you're trading away Johnny. I think Hall wants to go 'all in' and it's hard to convince him of that when you're trading away your best offensive player. I know that's a decent return, but it's still a hard sell.
5. Debrusk and Mangiapane are likely getting bigger contracts than that.
6. Soucy just broke into the NHL as a late bloomer and has a good thing going on in Minnesota. I don't think it's very likely he leaves that to come eat popcorn in Calgary.
Overall a fun off season though and I wouldn't be too upset at all if this happened, but I don't see it.
