I believe most coaches now a days are in the 2-4mil range, with the top end coaches making 5-6mil. The coaching market has changed dramatically in the last 5 years or so and no, a 3mil coach is no longer a steep price for a coach.
He definitively was on the upper end of the average coaching salaries though, and that's on Treviling for head hunting a guy because he worked with him with Team Canada and got tunnel vision that he would be Calgary's next coach regardless of the market or the teams tools at the time.
