NYR:
Buchnevich + Lundkvist + CAR 2020 1st for Gaudreau --> NYR has a lot of good pieces, this is the best deal. It's better than acquiring DeAngelo, who although had a fantastic year (and fits the needs of the Flames), he's due for a big pay raise and also has character issues. Lundkvist had a great year in the SHL, Buchnevich could fill in as the 2nd line RW, and the 2020 1st would give us another solid prospect in the future.

Of the 3 teams we're now discussing, the Rangers make the most sense. Could even see some deals involving Georgiev (who would be an ideal target to see if he could handle lots of GP).

NYI:
Leddy (can play RD) + Dobson (or Bellows) + 2021 1st for Gaudreau --> Islanders are already having a tough enough time with cap space, so Leddy would already be on the block. Dobson and a 2021 1st would be quite the compensation for the Flames to take on Leddy who can still play top 4 minutes. Could see him playing well with Gio.

This deal isn't likely to happen though, just based on the fact that the Isles are trying to clear cap for Toews, Pulock, and Barzal.

NJ:
2020 1st (AZ) + Bratt + Severson + 2021 2nd (NYI) for Gaudreau and Kylington --> Don’t think NJ is the ideal partner for Calgary regardless if this is the one that is closest to home for Johnny. Overall, it just doesn’t make sense for the Devils to acquire Johnny with where they are currently at in their rebuild. Either Bratt or Gusev would need to come to Calgary (since they are smallish wingers too), so I went with Bratt. I feel like a Swedish line of Bratt - Backlund - Lindholm would be a great 2nd line, and Severson would play on our middle pairing as the #3 with Giordano, then Valimaki.
