Yup, sucks, but the Flames didn't sign Kuemper as a UFA, or trade to get him for nothing. But that doesn't mean you don't trade for him now out of spite of those facts.
Ideally Parsons or Wolf turns into our #1 in a few years. Problem is they want to remain competitive, and feel until one of those guys is the answer, we'll need to find an answer. Whether or not you agree with that I guess is another discussion.
I really would like to make a deal work that doesn't involve the first rounder, because I feel there are some great players available in the 10-25 range this year. But if the Kuemper we've seen this past year was available, you'd take him at #19 anyway, so /shrug
