The Flames weren't the only team who incorrectly put high value on huge players. If anything, the Flames corrected their drafting earlier than other teams did. And they didn't waste first round picks.
The Jets drafted Logan Stanley at 18th overall in 2016. Stanley had 17 points in 64 games in his draft year. He's a 6'7 defenseman. Had 10 points in 44 AHL games this year. Looking like a bust.
Samuel Morin went at 11th overall in 2013 to the Flyers. 16 points in 46 games during his draft year. 6'6. Another bust. Frederik Gauthier, another large bodied disappointment in the same round.
