Either way I view Johnny as a two-year rental. Mangiapane has way more team control. His contract status boosts his value considerably.
Also, it's just hard to overlook how good Mangiapane's analytics are. Domi's are very middling.

Domi's are pretty strong (although a different tier).
Domi 2018-2020:
CF: 51.62%
SF%: 49.45
GF%: 56.22
xGF%: 52.88
SCF%: 52.87
HDCF%: 53.03
Mangiapane 2018-2020:
CF%: 53.60
SF%: 53.35
GF%: 56.78
xGF%: 55.32
SCF%: 56.14
HDCF%: 56.98
...yeah, I'm worried about what Mangiapane's contract is going to be. Add those into his even strength goal totals and yikes - any idea of having him locked in for anything sub-$4M is unlikely, but yeah I don't trade Mang for Domi straight across after looking at them deeper.
I just ran J.T Miller's numbers for 2018/2019 and I think he's a pretty good indicator for what Mang will cost.
Miller had 1 RFA year left when the Canucks acquired him - and they signed him to a four year deal worth $5.25M, so 3 UFA years bought. His UFA years were probably valued at $5.5M per year? Maybe $5.75M? Mang has 3 RFA years remaining.
That was a good bit of scouting by the Canucks.

I don't think so. I think he's emerging in the same way Miller did. Not sure he'll pop off for 72 points - but I'd be genuinely surprised to see him be below 50 points next year.
I think we're underrating Mang pretty significantly (myself included). When you add it all up - he's building himself into something special.
