When do you think that well starts to run a little dry? Are you surprised he wasn’t allowed to buy out Neal? It would have saved real dollars and the bigger impact is to the management of the cap. That doesn’t sound like a vote of confidence.

Treliving was extended after making the Neal/Lucic trade, so if any of his goodwill with ownership was tarnished by the incident then it seems to have been restored.
I would like to think that ownership has a longer view of the franchise than fans do, and is willing to give the GM the time and resources he needs to accomplish it. I am of the opinion that most NHL GMs are replaced prematurely, and that while team building can be achieved in five or six years it can also take a lot longer.
