According to the MOU for the return to play, once the Cup is awarded, things are scheduled to move really quickly prior to a December 1 start to the 2020-21 season.
Free agency will open 7 days after the Cup is awarded and the Draft is going to take place in between those 2 dates. In the MOU, if the Cup is awarded on October 2, the Draft will be October 6 with free agency opening on October 9.
Arbitration hearings will take place about 10 days after the draft and last potentially 3 weeks. About a week after the last arbitration hearings, training camps will start in mid-November.
Generally speaking, you want to have your coaching staff in place prior to the draft and the opening of free agency, so that needs to all get done in the next couple of weeks.
Obviously, those timelines could change, and presumably, the league is working though all the possible scenarios, but that's the last official plan.
