I mean if you can get Philly to add to Konecny, then great. But I view him as a very valuable asset. 5 years of cost control at a great number ($5.5 million) is extremely valuable. I think he's a sure bet to outperform that contract for every single year of it.
With a package deal involving the likes of Patrick, Hagg, Vorobyov, a 1st, etc., you're transferring a lot of Gaudreau's value into "maybes." But I'd rather have one guy who's already a pretty great thing than three maybes.
If the Flames are high on Konecny, and I can't imagine they aren't, I don't think they'll let not also getting a 1st or a guy like Patrick stand in the way of them pulling the trigger. Getting Konecny alone would be great value for a guy with a contract that's soon to expire. Anything more would be gravy. But I love mashed potatoes even without gravy.
