Just the guarantee that it'll work properly without any farting around with EDID overrides.
I have a FreeSync 2 monitor (Dell S3220DGF) and a GTX 1080ti hooked up via DP1.4. When I first set it up, if the framerate dropped below 50 FPS, you'd start to get flickering and even signal cutout (screen goes black, monitor claims that it's trying to detect a signal). I had to use CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) to the override EDID of the monitor to force a FreeSync range of 52-164Hz (instead of the factory 48-164Hz). It's still a wicked monitor -- especially for what I paid -- but that detail was a bit of a nuisance if I'm honest.
Also, for G-Sync to work on FreeSync 2/Pro monitors to its maximum range, you need a DisplayPort 1.4 cable. My monitor had a DP1.2 cable included in the box but I had a DP1.4 already waiting when it arrived.
