You stop the cash flow of the rich and powerful they start calling their politician friends they bought cheaply.
If you don't have any one to play in a multi- billion dollar league like the NBA there essentially is no NBA. You don't think all the owners and the heads of the NBA won't be calling people in the government they bought through legalized bribes in the form of donations to get just enough change going to appease their players so business can resume back to normal?
