Haven't posted in a while but wanted to throw in my two cents...
If the Flames are looking to trade Gaudreau now, it's unfortunate that this comes about following a down year and a future flat cap. Teams are not going to see his 6.75 cap hit as a bargain for the 0.83 ppg player he was in 19/20, and they're not going to be paying up believing he is still the 99 pt player he was in 18/19, so the Flames are kind of between a rock and a hard place with him. I think the best option may be to save him for a trade deadline, 2021 or 22, when teams are looking to add pieces for a playoff run and tend to overpay.
