The main plan was awareness. Which led to a ton of peaceful protests (marred by some localized vandalism and theft, as is typical for people who take advantage of large gatherings, such as Vancouver, and Toronto G20).
This has been followed up with a constant stream of egregious abuses of power by police. They didn’t skip a beat. It isn’t a supposed problem, it’s a real problem. And it’s not even political, we’re talking about people. So what’s left to do but continue to hammer down on awareness wherever you can. If it makes someone who isn’t following the news wonder why their sporting event is cancelled, and they learn more about the issue, that’s a successful move. I would have thought this would have put police on eggshells for at least a few months. But nothing has changed. And I’m sure most wouldn’t argue that a lot of this is grasping at straws out of desperation, but what else do they really have to go on for immediate action?
