I get it's hard to connect to these situations sometimes especially if you're not black or a person of colour, but please if you find yourself always fighting or arguing what the black community is doing, really take yourself out of the equation and listen. I agree partially, but disagree partially.
There is definitely a "fan" component here as well, and it was stated as such by the players. They're role models for countless people, who will see what they're doing, take note and hopefully take action. For those they are not role models for, they are entertainment for. And this is a firm signal that they will not act as entertainment for those who won't stand up for their rights or stand up against the obvious injustice that is occurring. It's essentially a: "if you don't support this we don't want you as a fan" moment. That might be enough for some people who were formerly hesitant to fully join the movement.
Also, off topic, but I didn't think my opinion of some of you could get worse. Anyone talking about Law and Order in this thread is an unrepentant racist and ######bag who has no conception at all for the severity of this situation, and is willfully blind to the actions of police in the USA. Not absolving Canada's Police in this situation, but how anyone paying any attention to the development of this scenario in the United States can stand up and say they hope there's a return to Law and Order is completely beyond me- unless they are a racist.
