For Buffalo the deal is all about Eichel. They fill a huge need on the team adding Monahan to be the 2nd line center. Eichel also gets Gaudreau to be his new winger. If Buffalo added a goalie and Eichel, and Dahlen keep ascending that team could contend next year. They move 2 roster players that are RFA with Arb rights so they remove those negotiations. They move 2 assets not on their current roster that fill a couple of huge needs of a 2nd line C and some star power for their franchise player.
For the Flames they shake things up big time. They add 2 right shots which is a critical need and at 24 and 26 they will be signed to 4-6 year contracts and be top 6 forward and top 4 D. They likely save $3M in cap space with this deal. Adding Cozens and the 8th pick are key pieces for the future that will be contributing as early as next year but more likely in 2 years.

I think for me I'd need Mittlestadt added. I think you can get close to that trade for either Gaudreau or Monahan.
Essentially:
Gaudreau for 8th OV, Reinhart, Montour
Monahan for Cozens
so it's close in value but I think Monahan gets more than just Cozens which is why I would want to see that extra bullet in the chamber in Mittlestadt added.
Monahan for Cozens + Mittlestadt is a lot closer imo
