Yeah, it's hard to tell what's the right call for them here. Obviously the Raptors are pretty deeply passionate about this cause, with Powell and FVV being really outspoken on this, and Masai personally affected by police racism.
I know one of the things that Powell was frustrated with was the tailored messages that NBA players were allowed to put on their jerseys. It was essentially protest within carefully-managed, not-too-offensive guidelines. It would be a pretty powerful statement if players came out for the game on both sides with non-approved jersey messages more directly calling out the police, daring the NBA to either eject every player and consequently cancel the game, or admit their flaws in the jersey policy. That would probably require not just the players but team management on board, and while I know that the Raptors management would do it if the players wanted it, I'm not sure Boston would.
