The NHL boxed itself in by prorating points for bonuses. Couldn’t do that plus count play-in points As regular season, I guess.

Regardless, those games were played like playoff games - the stakes and intensity were there every bit as much as the "real" playoffs, so that's still a pretty impressive stat line. Their qualifying round was against Minnesota, too - not exactly an easy team to pile up points against when the season's on the line. Pretty tight checking squad.

My biased view is that winning a play-in round is like winning a PO round because there was no substantive difference (especially when you are old enough to remember 5 game first round series). BUT not wining the play-in means you didn’t make the POs (Edmonton).
