Tons and tons of trade proposals in this thread for Gaudreau.
As big of a fan I am of Gaudreau, with just 2 years left on his deal , I’m not against the idea of trading him for long term help. But the biggest questions I have and think everyone else should consider is,
1) The Flames barely made the playoffs this season, so with that in mind, without Gaudreau’s regular season scoring prowess, can the Flames score enough goals to actually get to the playoffs?
2) Who will quarterback the powerplay? The Flames have had a pretty good powerplay for years now and with Gaudreau being the primary PP quarterback and zone entry specialist, who would be his replacement?
3) If the Flames do move on from just Johnny Gaudreau, how does the ______-Monahan-Lindholm line differ from the top line we saw last season? How would this line find success in the playoffs that they otherwise haven’t displayed in the past series.
4) Without Gaudreau, how will Monahan’s game evolve without his long time linemate? I’ve always been skeptical of him without Gaudreau. So, how does he get his goals? Does he become grittier for his goals? Can he drive play and create his own goals?
