As someone earlier quoted Treliving saying his philosophy was top 4 D, combined with his like of getting a big fish and his need to get a star, I think two things will happen in FA this year. I think he'll get Hall, and I think he'll attempt to get Krug or bring Brodie back. I think Hall will sign at a reasonable price.
As for deals, I think Gaudreau will be dealt to NJ or Buffalo with picks for their first rounder, freeing up some cap space. Additionally, I think Monahan will be dealt for a top 2 dman. Beyond that I think there will be smaller deals for the supporting cast to be ironed out a little. That would flip the core of the team, but frankly the supporting cast has to change too, but that would take time.

Why not trade Monahan 6.3M for picks and for an extra 2.5 M sign Pietroangelo?
