Well, you don’t win a Stanley Cup without getting elite goaltending and outside of Binnington exploding onto the scene last year, all the recent Cup winners have elite goalies on their roster or a prospect that turns into an elite goalie while they’re young.
Cheaping-out on middling veteran goalies is a guaranteed way to not win a championship. This “goalies are voodoo” stuff is just because they’re hard to develop. You need elite goalies to win the Cup. Don’t have them? Well, you better be actively working on getting at least one.
Best path to do is drafting and developing those goalies - but this organization can’t seem to do it at all, so that sucks.
