Yeah, I say throw an occasional mid or late round pick to draft a goalie, or just let other teams develop them. Then poach them when they are ready. Never draft them in the top 2 rounds unless you think you are getting Carey Price. By the time many of them are ready as a full time NHL starter, they are hitting the free agency market.

Just casually looking at the top 50 goalies or so by games played, it appears that well more than half were not drafted or developed by their current team, and many of them were signed as free agents or traded for in trades that were not that note worthy.
