I think at this point we're damned if you do, damned if you don't.

My first instinct is to scrap everything and start fresh, new GM, let him pick his team and pick his coach. Open the cheque-book.

But at the same time, I also see the value in giving Treliving one last shot to see what he does. Some "almost" trades have been good, but they don't count for #### at the end of the day. It's crystal clear that changes need to be made and needs that have existed for a couple of years absolutely need to be filled – now. This offseason isn't about tinkering. Treliving has taken a Feaster/Sutter team and made little changes building around that core, but now is the time for big changes, so I'm fine to see what he does with those.

I don't think changing Treliving out now is a sure thing to make us better. But what he does with guys like Gaudreau and Monahan, what he does with the goaltending situation, and what he does with the coaching position are going to decide how his legacy goes down. All of these things CAN be addressed with quality options this offseason, and if we're met with "came close" again? Then it's time to go.
