They have worked very hard to make changes that will make it harder to vote for minorities and those living in blue-leaning districts. Mail-in voting will undo all of that work if people can vote by just walking to their nearest mailbox.
Also, Russia can't hack the voting machines to give Trump a bunch of free votes if no one is using voting machines.
