With Valimaki being exempt I think the team has to be open to exposing Giordano. Go with Hanifin, Andersson, Valimaki, Sanheim as the top 4 moving forward. Plus I think it's going to be tough to find a team that doesn't want/need to send at least a little bit of cap back.
Probably only the Devils have that cap space...but they aren't really going to looking for Gaudreau with only 2 year left on his contract because he doesn't really fit their window. It's why they are shopping Palmeri and already moved Hall.
Teams that are most likely to look at Gaudreau are teams that are looking to win during the remaining two years on his contract, and think they might have a shot to re-sign him. IMO teams that fit the bill are:
-Buffalo: Need to take a step this year.
-Philly: Depending on playoff result may want to add to take a flyer on the hometown kid and Hayes best buddy
-New York Rangers: Have the first overall pick, and Panarin, could look to try to push to win during Lafreniere's ELC.
-Pittsburgh: Disappointing playoff result, never afraid to make big changes
-Boston: Could use more offense to make another push in the next couple years with Marchand/Bergeron still performing at a high level.
-Columbus: Not afraid to make a big move for an offensive talent that can help them (ie. trading for 2 years of Panarin)
