Yeah I'm not even disappointed. Playing against a team with Perry and Cogliano... by the Flames' standards, that wasn't even a choke. It was barely a cough.
I hardly expect anything different at this point. It would help if this team had six NHL-calibre defenders... but right now, they have four. And that's with Giordano slumping to the point where he's on the cusp of being replacement-level.
I understand the Gustafsson acquisition. They needed someone to give the powerplay a boost. His defensive game is ghastly, but it is what it is. But the Derek Forbort acquisition was costly and, to this day, makes no sense. He is a defensive and offensive liability and is the slowest player on either team.
At least guys like Bartkowski and Eriksson had no acquisition cost. The Flames gave up a decent price for a defenseman who's actually a downgrade on the guy they gave away to the Sharks for free.
