For a team who were 2-12 in their previous round of 16 playoff games, there wasn't a single one of those where you could say their goaltender won the game for them. Even the win against Colorado last year in game 1, Smith was good, but the team as a whole played well enough in front of him. So to win 2 games in a series and have the goaltender pretty much deliver one of them is a nice change.
No doubt a bit of luck, but don't underestimate wins like this. I remember Detroit being all over the Flames in game 5 of that 04 series. Flames won that game 1-0 and that was pretty much the series.
