As much as we hate him, sneaky good play by Corey Perry on the winner. Fakes shot/soft dump the entire way, pulling Forbort's body and especially stick out of the passing lane, then rolls his wrists at the last second to pull (in the golf sense of pull) the puck tape-to-tape to Oleksiak back door. Credit to the big man, Oleksiak, too, as it's way easier than it looks to re-direct that play wide left as a lefty.
Miscommunication between Dube (RW) and Gaudreau (LW) on who was covering the right-side pointman during a rushed change due to a fumbled clearance by Dube. Gaudreau was rushing to the spot where Perry was but realized too late it was a broken play and put in a half-assed attempt at recovering. Bad clearance, bad attention to detail by Johnny, and a great play by Perry.
I also wasn't a fan of Ward splitting up the third line and I'm not usually one to criticize the coaches for one-game decisions. Of course Bennett immediately took an undisciplined penalty in that scenario, too.
I really thought the Flames were going to take it to the Stars in overtime so that's a ####ty call by me and a bit of a gut punch. Whoops!
