That would actually explain Staples suddenly releasing a somewhat critical piece on the Oilers captains lack of leadership. An article that though similarly critical of Raisaitl specifically also mentions a great back check. No such praise for Connor.

That article is pointed but the end is terrible. The Oiler young guys have been criticized by many veterans who have left that they don't listen to advice, and the coaches don't back up the vets. This goes back to Taylor Hall arriving on scene thru McDavid. Vets like Horcoff, Souray, Lucic, Andrew Ference have all said the same thing.
