Data shows that a VP pick doesn’t have significant impact, with the possible exception of in the VP’s home state, and even there the evidence is shaky.
The one thing a candidate can do is pick someone like Palin, who is clearly not ready to be president, and harm their chances.
The only real question anyone will be asking of Harris is “is she ready to take over the Presidency”? If she can clear that bar, which I believe she can, she will be a net positive for the campaign.
